Job Description – Community Development Assistant

NATURE OF WORK:
Performs administrative and event planning work leading to The Enterprise’s community and economic development efforts to attract and maintain business and industry.  Works to improve of the quality of life in the regional area of Choctaw and Webster Counties in Mississippi, in accordance with the policies and guidelines set forth by The Board of Trustees for The Enterprise.

This is a part-time position (16 hours a week) and will be responsible for working to promote the community and economic development interests for The Enterprise of Mississippi and the City of Eupora.  This position reports directly to the Executive Director of The Enterprise.  The City of Eupora will contract four hours of work weekly through The Enterprise. Professional competencies include:  computer literacy skills, communication (verbal and written) skills, organizational skills, relationship and team building, self-management and ethical integrity.

THE ENTERPRISE OF MISSISSIPPI DUTIES – 12 HOURS WEEKLY
Compiles monthly financial statements and reports through financial management software such as Quickbooks.

Records monthly expenses and deposits. Reconciles monthly bank statements.

Prepares monthly board packets for meetings.

Creates spreadsheets and databases to record information.

Researches demographic, labor, and other forms of data as needed for projects.

Organizes information digitally on cloud based platforms.

Drafts correspondence for the Director.

Updates social media and website.

Markets upcoming events and programs.

Plans meetings and events by securing location, notifying attendees and setting up for the meeting.

CITY OF EUPORA DUTIES – 4 HOURS WEEKLY
Maintains and enhances the City of Eupora’s website and social media pages.

Schedules new business openings with ribbon cuttings and news articles for the local paper.  This would require coordinating with Eupora City Hall on new Privilege Licenses.

Coordinates with local merchants, businesses, schools, and other civic organizations for community based events that contribute to the quality of life in Eupora.  Examples include but not limited to:  Trunk or Treat, annual Christmas Market and Parade, Christmas Open House, Relay for Life, etc. The events are seasonal and will require additional hours.

Coordinate with the City of Eupora Parks Director to communicate special events and tournaments to local businesses.

Prepares a short monthly summary of completed work to the Mayor of Eupora at the end of each month.

Conducts other work as related to community and economic development.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma/GED is required with four years of administrative experience.

As associates degree or higher with minimal experience.

ADDITIONAL ABILITIES
Must communicate clearly and effectively through verbal and written communication.  Strong computer skills are required to operate multiple computer programs and the ability to understand and use cloud based platforms.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be a resident of either Choctaw or Webster Counties.  Must not have a criminal record or pending litigation.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Presentations and speeches in front of crowds call for good public speaking skills. Written skills are equally important.  Computer literacy is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid driver’s license is required.

PERSONNEL POLICY
The adopted personnel policies by The Enterprise Board of Trustees will serve as minimum standards.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Time schedule must be flexible. There is never one day exactly like the next day.  Candidate should be prepared for extra hours for unexpected events/functions.   Projects arise at the last minute and must be completed in just a matter of a few days (or hours) along with your daily tasks. Multi-tasking and organizational skills are vital.

SALARY
Will be determined based off qualifications and experience.
